Spacecraft.
will transport millions of people to
space stations, moons, planets, and stars and enable people to explore, work and
vacation at space facilities.

In the 1960's, NASA, the United States Air Force, Navy
and North American Aviation developed the successful Hypersonic
Research program. On October 3, 1967, the X-15 flew at Mach 6.7 (6.7
times the speed of sound) to the edge of space to set a world altitude record of
354,200 feet (67 miles or 109 kilometers). The program contributed to the development of
Mercury, Gemini, Apollo & Space Shuttle programs.

| The spacecraft need for exploring
space are space shuttle, space planes,
planetary craft, and starships. |
-
Space
Shuttle,
was initially intended to transport
people to a one-quarter of mile in diameter circular space station. However,
NASA converted the space shuttle from carrying thousands of people to
delivering satellites into space and materials to the International Space
Station. The space shuttle is based upon thirty-year-old technology and
should be replaced space planes.
-
Space
Planes
will enable millions of people to travel around
the world and space stations orbiting the earth.
According to political leaders, the United States has planes that can
travel any where in the world within hours. A simple calculation shows the
planes are traveling over ten times the speed of sound. This technology
should be declassified and made available to American companies
for commercialization. Within the next decade, space travel will be as easy
going to the airport and getting on an airplane.
-
Planetary
Spacecraft
will allow people to travel at sub-warp speeds to
explore asteroids, moons and planets in our solar system.
The spacecraft designs on the drawing boards show antimatter being
used to power the spacecraft. By
the end of the century, millions of people will be visiting our solar
system. Colonization of the planets and their moons will have taken place.
-
Starships
will take people at warp speeds to the stars
within weeks. Starships will travel faster than the speed of light.
The starships will use
antimatter as a source of power. The starships will look similar to the USS
Enterprise on Star Trek. U.S.S.
Enterprise will
enable people to explore
the stars and planets within the Milky Way Galaxy.
The
spacecraft are in various stages of
development. The space shuttle should be replaced with space planes.
The declassification of the information and technology will enable American
companies to commercialize them; but more importantly, the knowledge transferred
to colleges and universities will enable educators to provide World-Class
education to students.
